Gaylia Joyce (Irvin) Underwood Birch, 81 of Cross Plains, Texas passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 surrounded by her family in Midland, Texas. She was born on December 14, 1938 in Eastland County, Texas to the late Loron and Alice (Flowers) Irvin. She attended schools in Rising Star and Cross Plains, Texas. Gaylia married Gordon Lee Underwood in 1956 and were married until his death in 1987. She later married Alfred William Birch, Jr. and enjoyed 26 years of marriage. She enjoyed square dancing, playing dominoes, traveling and visiting with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband Alfred William Birch, Jr. of Cross Plains, Texas, Son and Daughter in-Law Gayle & Brandy Underwood of Palmer, Texas; Son and Daughter in-Law Gregg and Linda Underwood of Midland, Texas; Grandchildren: Jacob Underwood and his wife Courtney from Killen, Texas; Alysha Underwood and her husband Jason Harrington, Jr from Odessa, Texas; Savannah Underwood from Palmer, Texas and Kate Lynn Underwood and her fiancé Johnny “Angel” Sanchez from Midland, Texas; Great Grandchildren: Odin, Hayden and Shiloh Underwood; Jason Wyatt Harrington, III and soon to be born Aubrey Lynn Harrington May 2020. She is also survived by her Brother-In-Law Harvey and his wife Helen Birch and a Sister In-Law Joanne Luce all of Austin Texas.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, February 01, 2020 from 12 pm till 2PM followed by a Celebration of Life to be held at the chapel of Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains, Texas at 2PM. Interment will follow at the Cross Plains Cemetery. Pallbearers; Savannah Underwood, Kate Underwood, Jacob Underwood, Jason Harrington Jr, Johnny Sanchez, Dawn Hanson and Walt Miller, David Ledbetter.
