Obituary for JT Byrd
JT Byrd, 91, of Cross Cut, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 27 at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Cross Plains, Texas with Alvin Hutchins officiating. Burial will follow at Cross Cut Cemetery in Brown County, Texas. The family will have a time of visitation on Saturday, May 26 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel.
JT was born on March 19, 1927 in Cross Cut, Texas to the late William Earnest and Maud DeBusk-Byrd. JT served in the United State Army during WWII. He retired from the oilfield where he held multiple positions throughout his career. He then returned to Cross Cut to pursue his passion for country life being a Rancher and Farmer. He enjoyed driving tractors to provide hay for his cows. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
JT is survived by his wife, Janice (Polly) Byrd of Cross Cut; son, Guy Byrd and wife Faye Mills of Cross Cut; daughters, Wanda Byrd and Cindie Preston of Gardendale; 2 grandsons, Marcus Byrd of Mineral Wells, Mitch Byrd and wife, Sheryl of Brownwood; 4 great grandchildren, Isabella Byrd of Mineral Wells; Kaeden Byrd, Rhyder Byrd and Jolie Byrd of Brownwood; Adopted great grandchild, Kirsten Preston of Gardendale; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
