Obituary for Lora Mae Freeman (Marchbanks)

Lora Mae Marchbanks-Freeman, 87, of Abilene, Texas passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Rising Star Nursing Center in Rising Star, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16 at 2:00 PM at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Roy Don Rodger officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cross Plains Memorial Park in Cross Plains. The family will have a time of visitation at the funeral home at 1 PM before the service.

Lora Mae was born August 18, 1933 in Brownfield, Texas to the late Jasper Marchbanks and Vera Smith-Marchbanks. She married Bobby Wayne Freeman on June 6, 1953 at the Cross Plains First Baptist Church Parsonage. Lora Mae was baptized at the age of 9 years old. She loved her Lord and Savior. She attended Sunday School and Church services and raised her sons in church. Lora Mae enjoyed reading her bible and the dictionary. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing.

Lora Mae was preceded in death by her parents; son, Darrell Glen Freeman; 3 sisters, Dovie Pinkerton, Estelle Haynes, Inez Fiveash; 2 brothers, B T Marchbanks and Ather Marchbanks.

Lora Mae is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Bobby Wayne Freeman of Abilene; son, James L. Freeman and his wife, Tammy of Cross Plains; 4 grandchildren, Kyle Freeman and wife, Justine; Amanda Cole and husband, Michael; Jamie Briseno; Tonda Freeman and fiancé, Ray; 9 great grandchildren, Xander, Jax, Layla, Matthew, JT, Lynlee, Rian, Jameson and Raylyn; 2 sisters, Rose Tipton of Lipan; Leona Wilson and husband, Clarence of Stephenville; numerous nieces and nephews.
