Obituary for Ocie Carlton Draper

On Saturday, September 18, 2021, Ocie Carlton Draper, passed away at the Silver Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Abilene, Texas.

Ocie was born on January 31, 1936 in Caddo, Oklahoma. After attending High School in Irving, Texas, Ocie served his county in the Airforce Reserves. Ocie spent his career in the sheet metal business. In 1984, along with friends, Ike and Mike, Ocie started the successful Western Sheet Metal shop in Irving.

Ocie had a passion for the outdoors. His passion for hunting took him on many adventures throughout North America and even into Africa. He spent the latter part of his life on his ranch in Baird, Texas where he cared for his cattle and land along with family and very close friend Erwin Clark.

He was known for his strength, his character and his infectious laugh. Ocie loved his family and friends with whom he shared many beautiful and loving memories.

Ocie was preceded in death by his father, Leroy; mother, Edith; brother, Jettie Lee; and sisters,
Thelma and Cassie.

Ocie’s memory will be carried forward by sons, Rick and Randy; daughters, Denise and Micah; grandchildren, Steve, Chelsey, Lena, Zack, Andrea, Janelle, Bailye, Hayden, Codie, and Mallory; and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Obie and Roy Don; and sisters, Sue and Joanie.

There will be a graveside service at the Cottonwood Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 24, 2021.
