Obituary for Robert Gerald Taylor

Robert Gerald Taylor of Cross Cut, Texas passed away on December 18, 2022 at Hendricks Medical Center in Brownwood, Texas at the age of 82.

Graveside services will be held at Cross Cut Cemetery in Cross Cut, Texas on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 3:00 PM.

Robert, “Bob or DaddyBob”, was born October 27, 1940 in Maracaibo, Venezuela to late, Gerald Taylor and Ann Cova-Taylor.

Robert graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1964 on a full scholarship from the US Government and the only one awarded to a Venezuelan at the time.

Upon graduation, he immediately married “The love of his life”, Cookie Hearne with whom he had 3 children, and began his career in El Tigre, Venezuela working for Schlumberger International. In 1968 he transferred to Houston, Texas where he continued his career, in the oil and gas industry until his retirement to Cross Cut, Texas in 1995.

Although he was a golfer and baseball player in his younger years, his big passion was tennis. He spent many hours and years teaching and playing with his children and grandchildren, and continued to play into his 80’s with his dear friends in Brownwood, Texas.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Joyce Rivera and Betsy Toloudis.

DaddyBob is survived by his son, Robert James Taylor and his wife, Julie of Longmont, Colorado; daughters, Keeka Byrd and husband, Scott of Cross Cut, Texas; Cristina Davis and husband, Stephen of Dallas, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sister, Sandy Erban and husband, Tomas of Florida.
