Obituary for Sondra Turner

Sondra  Turner
Sondra Kay Turner (Pickett) 72, passed away with family surrounding her in San Antonio on
December 5, 2018. Sondra was born on July 9th 1946 in Brady, TX to Arvel & Eva Pickett. She
was raised in Goldsmith, TX and was a 1964 graduate of Odessa High School. In 1971 Sondra
married JC Turner and in 1973 had one daughter Sammi Jo. In 1978 she graduated nursing
school and retired in 2010, but kept her license up so she could volunteer as the nurse at the
heart of Texas Bible camp.

She was a devoted daughter to her parents who she cared for until the lord called them
home. She was a loving mother to her daughter and amazing Nana to two boys she spent
every moment with, rarely missing a ballgame, a school play, choir, pep-o-rally, or doctors
appointment. Along with two grandsons comes their friends who she loved just the same and became their Nana too, Brandon Maples, Josh Mcvea, Joseph Chavez, Jacob Munoz and many more. She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ where she leaves behind many of her church family that she loved and cherished. Sondra’s love and kindness has changed and affected the lives of so many.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include, her brother Jacky Pickett & wife Carolyn of Devine, TX. Her sister Patsy Estes of Brady, TX. Her daughter Sammi Jo Sanchez & husband Lee of Odessa, TX. Two grandsons Blaine Zamora & wife Ashley, Mason Sanchez both from Odessa. Two great grandchildren Leah & Landon. Three first cousins who she loved like her sisters, Dewanah Aylesworth, Aurelia Williams and Sharon Pickett. Two uncles Gaylon Pickett of Santa Anna & Uncle Bill Gunn of Odessa. Two nieces, Kammie Robertson and Cherie Sweeden and two nephews, James Pickett and Guy Estes and numerous cousins and many friends that she loved like family.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Arvel Pickett & Eva Patton, Stepfather Pat Patton,
her grandparents and a great nephew Parker Robertson. Many aunts and uncles and her very best friends Delores Wallace and Leticia Villarreal.

Sondra’s Family has entrusted her care to Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains, TX.
Visitation with Family will be Monday, December 10th 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11th 2018 at 1:00pm in Cross Plains, TX at the Higginbotham Funeral Home with graveside to follow at the Cross Cut cemetery.
