Alberta Arledge

December 16, 1934 — April 6, 2025

Alberta Walker Arledge, born in Texline Texas, on December 16, 1934, to Verna Belle Scoggins and Luke Walker, passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love. Alberta graduated from Odessa High School in 1953 where she met the love of her life Charles, whom she later married on August 13, 1955. Together they shared 64 remarkable years of marriage that exemplified partnership, commitment, and unwavering faith. Their love story was not only an inspiration to all who witnessed it but also a real-life example of a fairy tale.

Alberta was much more than a wife; she was the heartbeat of their family. With remarkable grace and warmth, she managed their household while Charles served in the Army and pursued his degree. In her own pursuit of education, Alberta earned a degree of her own. Alberta’s quest for knowledge and adventure did not stop there. She was an avid reader and loved to go on trips with her husband and the many friends that they made throughout the course of their life together.

A nurturing matriarch, Alberta cherished her role as a mother and took immense pride in her children and their families. She believed deeply in the sanctity of family and embraced every opportunity to gather her loved ones, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. Alberta’s home was a place where everyone felt welcome.
Alberta was not only a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she was a fierce friend. Her compassionate spirit shone through her countless hours of volunteering, as she dedicated herself to various charities, tirelessly working to uplift and improve the lives of those in her community.

Alberta is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles, her daughter, Kathey Dunlap. She leaves behind her son Greg and his wife Cathy, along with their three sons and their wives, Cole and Sarah, Reed, and Blake and Emily. Alberta is also survived by her son-in-law, Mark Dunlap, his daughter Elizabeth, and her husband Aaron. Additionally, she was blessed to be survived by her five great-grandchildren.
