Azalee B. Womack, 84, of Cross Plains passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in Brownwood, TX.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 8 from 10 to 11:30 AM at Higginbotham Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM at the Cross Plains Church of Christ.
Visitation in Rotan will be held Sunday, April 9 from 1 to 2 PM at the Weathersbee Ray Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Belvieu Cemetery, Rotan, TX.
Azalee was born on October 1, 1932 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to the late Harry Bryant and Lillian Bost Bryant. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1950 prior to attending Texas Tech University for 2 years. Azalee graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1972 then received her Masters degree in Education from Abilene Christian University in 1978.
She married Morris Ray Womack on May 27, 1952 in Lubbock, TX. They began their life together in Hobbs, Texas then moved to Rotan, TX where they raised their 4 children. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage. Ray preceded her in death on February 11, 2011.
Azalee was a teacher and taught in the communities of Rotan, Amherst and Rising Star. Azalee enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a member of the Cross Plains Quilting Club. She volunteered at the Cross Plains Public Library and Meals on Wheels. Azalee was a member of the Cross Plains church of Christ.
Azalee is survived by her daughter, Luanne Jones and husband Steve of Hutto; son, Morris Womack of Cross Plains; daughter, Laura Womack Fritz of Tomball; grandchildren, Bryan Fritz and wife Melissa of Houston, Jeffrey Fritz of Tomball, Leslie Jones and fiancé Dustin Ford of Austin, Grant Jones of Hutto; sister, Jessalu Lorck and husband Ben of Brady; sister in-law, Coleen Bryant of Abilene; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Azalee was also preceded in death by her brother, Harry Ray Bryant and a son, Cecil Wayne Womack.
