Barbara Jean Hutchins Vaught passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith and family devotion.
Barbara was born on October 19, 1934 in Atwell, Texas, the fourth of seven children of George and Viola Hutchins. She grew up in Cross Plains, Texas and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Lee "Bobby" Vaught, Jr. on October 18, 1953. Thus began a sixty-three year marriage of mutual love, respect and support for one another.
Early in their marriage, they moved to Odessa, Texas where Bob began his oilfield career that would span decades. Barabara dedicated herself to taking care of their four daughters and creating a wonderful home for her family. She fought the good fight at home taking the term "homemaker" to a whole new level. Barabra made her family's clothes, learned carpentry, home repair and remodeling.
After their daughters were grown, Barbara followed Bob to Papua New Guinea with Chevron where they had the opportunity to travel to many other countries. The couple retired to a home on Brownwood Lake and made many precious memories with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As a member of Lake Brownwood Church, she made beautiful cakes for many occasions.
Barbara was known for her vivacious personality, her infectious laugh and her love of family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her daughter Gay Fields, her son-in-law Ted Krueger, her parents, her sister and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter Terri Krueger, Lynn Hix (Jerry), Lisa Campbell (Jim), son-in-law Dean Fields and wife Karen, twelve grandchildren and spouses, and twenty-nine great--grandchildren.
