Betty Ann Hicks Gary, age 80, of Cross Plains passed away, Saturday, February 27, 2016 at her home after a long and lengthy battle with cancer. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Sabanno Cemetery in Eastland County, Texas with Mike Bailey officiating.
Betty was born on December 20, 1935 in Sabanno, Texas to Howard Lee Hicks and Mrytle "Jo" Forgay-Hicks. She attended school in Scranton, Texas. She was a 4th generation descendant of Doctor D. Pollock, one of the first pioneer settlers in the Sabanno area.
Betty is survived by her son, Jimmy Glenn Meador of Rising Star, Texas; 2 daughters, Debora Ann Meador of Rising Star, Texas; Patricia Jo Meador Hopkins and her husband, H.D. Hopkins of Cross Plains, Texas; 6 grandsons, Jason Barron of Cross Plains, Texas; Jacob Barron of Clyde, Texas; Justin D. Hopkins of Breckenridge, Texas; Joseph Hopkins of Lubbock, Texas; Joshua W. Hopkins of Henrietta, Texas; Jonathon R. Hopkins of Cross Plains;19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sally Roady of Cross Plains, Texas; many nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers; one sister; one granddaughter.
