Betty Jean Weiss, age 91, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Bailey E. and Lorene M. (Meeks) White on August 26, 1933, in Santo, Texas. On May 18, 1952, she married the love of her life, Edwin T. Weiss, in Coleman, Texas. Betty was baptized in 1958; she had a servant’s heart and loved her Lord and Savior. She had a passion for working with preschoolers and babysitting until her late 70's. Loved by all, she was known as "Nana Betty" to all the children she helped raise in Cross Plains. She began working at the First Baptist Church with preschool children in 1983 and she was also V.B.S. director several years. She was Preschool Assistant Leader for the Brownwood Association for 9 years, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church, she received many rewards for her hard work and dedication toward the children of the church. Betty’s favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.”
She is survived by her son, Eddie Weiss and wife, Wanda; daughters, Sandra Carey and husband, Rickey; Brenda Weiss; 7 grandchildren, Jacob Weiss and wife, Kelly Wylie, Crystal McCorkle, Jason Carey and wife, Melonie, Roger Carey and wife, Wendy; Joshlin Nelson; Jonathan Nelson; Connie Hyles and husband, Cody; 10 great grandchildren, Josie Borgia; Baylor Glasscock; Meghan McCorkle; Ryan Carey and wife, Nova; Andrew Carey; Jevon Tillery and wife, Tristan; Keegan Tillery; Shyler Dumesnil and husband, Clayton; Dream Hyles; Halo Hyles; 4 great-great grandchildren, Jack Dumesnil; Samuel Dumesnil; Wyatt Carey; Kyndall Dumesnil.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin T. Weiss; parents, Bailey E. and Lorene M. White; daughters, Anita Weiss and Connie Weiss; and brother, William Davis.
