Dan Johnston, 90, of Cross Plains, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 in Abilene.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel, Cross Plains, TX. Burial will follow at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, TX.
Dan was born on April 6, 1926 in Abilene to the late Jourdey J. Johnston and Essie Newton Johnston. He was the youngest of 4 children. Dan married Bobbie Jean Webb on August 4, 1944 in Cross Plains, TX. Dan proudly served his country in the Army during WW II in the European theatre. After the war he worked and owned a Truck Dealership and auto dealerships from 1946 until 2014. Dan was a member of First Baptist Church in Cross Plains, TX. He was loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Dan is survived by his wife of 72 years Bobbie Johnston; 2 sons, Freddie Johnston and wife Bee Gee and Bobby Johnston; 9 Grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; family and friends.
Dan was also preceded in death by a son, Billy Johnston.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the First Baptist Church, Cross Plains, TX.
