David Goble

October 26, 1942 — July 10, 2022

David Louis Goble, 79, of Cross Plains, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 10, 2022 in Cross Plains, Texas. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14 at 10:00 AM at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Cross Plains, Texas with Ronnie White officiating and Kenneth Reiter assisting. Burial will follow after the service at Cottonwood Cemetery in Callahan County, Texas.

David was born on October 26, 1942 in Baird, Texas to the late Cecil Lenley Goble and Lola Delia Wilcoxen-Goble. David was proud to be a Cross Plains Buffalo, especially playing football. He loved his school but mostly all his friends. He loved dragging the streets and racing his cars out at cottonwood by the airport. After school, he served in the United States Army.

David worked for GTE until he retired. He worked repairing the electric lines and phone lines when hurricanes and tropical storms hit down in Houston and Galveston, he lived in Houston for many months while he was working on the repairs. David was a diesel mechanic most of his life. He was a gunsmith, he would site in guns and make his own ammunition. David lived in Colorado for many years where he found the love of his life Sherryl Fouche. He and Sherryl married on December 31, 1976 in Buena Vista, Colorado. He enjoyed to hunt and ride his horses in the mountains of Colorado. Later David moved back to Texas with his wife, Sherryl and their daughter, Shawn. Even though he moved back to Texas he still made many hunting trips back to Colorado taking his wife, brothers and closest friends.

David love to repair and restore old tractors. If you had an old or new tractor that need fixing David was man to call, he had every tool imaginable to fix the problem. When you needed help, David was there. He had a heart as big as Texas, he was such a gentle and kind person. He would help anyone with anything. David talked with a big Texas drawl and he love to make you laugh. He loved apple fritters and Blue Bell vanilla ice cream and most of all his dogs. He enjoyed ridding around looking at the deer and the beautiful scenery on the backroads. David’s love and devotion for his family and friends will never be forgotten. The memories we all have will be forever cherished.

David was preceded by his beloved wife of 39 years, Sherryl Goble; parents, Cecil Lenley Goble and Lola Delia Wilcoxen-Goble.

David is survived by his daughters, Shawn Morton and her husband, Eddie Joe of Big Lake, Texas; Tina Justices of Haslet, Texas; son, Dwayne Justice and his wife, Susan of Florida; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Stanley Goble and his wife, Norma Jean of Cross Plains, Texas; Lenley Goble and Lorna Muniain of Cross Plains, Texas; sister, Naoma Wilson of Cross Plains, Texas; brother-in-law, Bill Fouche and his wife, Norma of Canyon City, Colorado; numerous nieces; nephews.
