Ella Faye Merrill slipped peacefully into eternity on January 29, 2023 while listening to her loved ones talking together. She is survived by her son, Robert Merrill and his wife, Paula of Lafayette, LA; daughter, Norma Evans of Cross Plains, TX; son, Roy Merrill and his wife, Sandra of Penrose, CO; grandchildren, Melanie Fowler and her husband, Shane of Lafayette, LA; Kelli Cocke and her husband, Jared of Broussard, LA; Robert Merrill Jr. of Lafayette, LA; Tina Bradley and her husband, Rodney of Cross Plains, TX; Glenda Strom and her husband, Jeremy of Dickson, TN; Mia Merrill of Penrose, CO; Derrick Merrill and his wife, Narissa of Penrose, CO; great grandchildren, Lana, Frances, Isaac, and Sean Cocke of Broussard, LA; Georgia and Glen Fowler of Lafayette, LA; Colton Bradley of Weatherford, TX; River and Victoria Bradley of Cross Plains, TX; Halle, Julia, and Claire Strom of Dickson, TX; brother, Dwayne Phillips and his wife, Nina of Cross Plains, TX; sister, Jean Johnson and her husband Randy of Palmer, TX; brother, Glenn Phillips and his wife, Sheron of Callisburg, TX; many nieces, nephews, cousins and precious caretakers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Roy Merrill; parents, Tennie and Willi Phillis; son-in-law, Max Evans; many brothers and sister-in-law’s; nieces; nephews; cousins and 2 great grandchildren.
Ella Faye was born on the Pecan Bayou, May 29, 1931 and was raised there. She lived in Colorado for a few months, but lived in Cross Plains the remainder of her years. After a fall, she entered and completed her life journey at the Rising Star Nursing Center where she was well loved. Faye attended school in Cross Cut, Williams and graduated from Cross Plains with the class of 1949.She met and married the love of her life on November 5, 1949. She and Glen had 54 years together, raising their 3 children in Cross Plains. Ella Faye was involved in the school and community activities and help her husband with his used car business. She loved to sew, paint and garden. She was very talented at everything she did. She even fixed hair and made clothes for her friends. She was a fun grandmother and great grandmother and their stories of her truly are PRECIOUS memories.
