Jackie Hayes, 85 of Rising Star passed away on April 30,2024.

Jackie was born January 22,1939, in Clarksville Arkansas to Garland and Ada Cooper. She married Gene Hayes on June 28,1954, in New Mexico. She and Gene were married 60 years before he passed away in 2014.

She and Gene worked many years together harvesting wheat in West Texas. She obtained her cosmetology license and was a hairdresser until the adoption of their two daughters. DeAda and Lajeana were her pride and hoy. They lived in numerous places in Texas but finally settled in Burleson. After the girls were older, she returned to work as a nail technician. She became an extension of the family, counselor, and friend to many of her clients. Jackie was an avid gardener, cook, and artist.

Jackie loved the Lord and her family immensely. She had a special bond with her sister Sue Merck as well as her nieces and nephews, Dubra, Bobby, Brenda, and Danny.

She is survived by her two daughters, DeAda Proctor and husband Frank of Arlington, Lajeana Long and husband Jerry of Rising Star, her beloved sister Sue Merck of Crowley, 9 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents, and 2 sisters.
