James Ross of Rising Star (Pioneer) a beloved husband father and brother, passed away on August 28, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born on October 1, 1957, in Angleton, Texas.
James loved gardening, raising animals, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. James was in the ministry for over 40 years including pastoring churches, as a Chaplin in the Texas prison system, and working with other pastors in discipleship training. He authored multiple books and loved to share the Word. He also volunteered in his local community.
James was preceded in death by his parents Merelene Foyt and Sylvester Foyt, as well as his father Billy Ross, his sister Billie Gaston, and sister-in-law Cynthia Foyt. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra (Filipp) Ross, his daughter Jamie Shannon (David), and sons Joshua Ross, S. David Ross (Caitlyn), Daniel Ross (Aracely), and 4 grandchildren Joel Ross-Shannon, Connor Shannon, Allyson Ross and Kierney Shannon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Rowden Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 2990 State Hwy 36 E., Baird, TX.
