In Loving Memory Jo Ann (Montgomery) Ringhoffer December 9, 1936 – June 16, 2026
"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
Jo Ann (Montgomery) Ringhoffer entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 16, 2026, at the age of 89. Born in Cross Plains, Texas, to Loyd Lester Montgomery and Cassie (Wright) Montgomery, Jo Ann lived a life defined by faith, family, hard work, and service.
From her earliest years on the family ranch west of Cross Plains, Jo Ann developed a love for cattle, farming, and ranching. She insisted on helping her dad work the calves from a very early age. As a teenager, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a commitment that guided every season of her life.
After graduating as salutatorian of Cross Plains High School at the age of 18, she married the love of her life, Alex Henry 'H' Ringhoffer, on June 18, 1955. They began their life together in Spur, TX, where H worked for the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) followed by Post, Texas, where their two children were born. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and agriculture, raising two children in several communities across Texas.
Jo Ann was active in her church, taught Sunday School, supported her children's involvement in FFA and 4-H, and devoted countless hours to cooking, gardening, sewing, and caring for those she loved. She and H eventually returned to the ranch where she was raised, where they spent many fulfilling years raising cattle, growing wheat, and stewarding the land they cherished.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen; daughter-in-law, Lacretia; grandchildren Amy Nash and husband Trey, Rusty Combs and wife Leah, Gary Combs and wife Natasha, and Cassie Yates and husband William; along with fifteen great-grandchildren, Hannah Nash; Lyla, Luke, Karlee, Judah, Mekhi, and Elliot Combs; Everly, Griffin, Haddon, Shepherd, Beckett, and Quinn Combs; Aiden and Autumn Yates.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alex Henry 'H' Ringhoffer; her son, Alex Jay Ringhoffer; her sister, Lucille Payne; and her son-in-law, Johnny Doyle Combs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church Cross Plains or the Cross Plains Volunteer Fire Department.
