Kay Annette McDannel Canales, 59, of Abilene, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2024. Memorial Service will be 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Cross Plains located at 301 N Main Street in Cross Plains, Texas.
Kay was a devoted Mother, Wife, Sister and Friend. Kay had a love for life and loved to be outdoors involved in family activities. She absolutely enjoyed going shopping.
Kay was born on October 16, 1964, in Leon, Iowa to Karen Willis and Michael McDannel.
Kay married the love of her life Benito Canales in Colorado Springs, Colorado on March 26, 1991. Kay and Benito share three children, Bre Ann Martina-Faye Canales, Katrina Malynn Canales, and Jacob Matthew Canales.
Kay was a stay at home mom for a few years. She became an employee for Texaco and was employed there for seven plus years. While she loved what she did at Texaco a change was needed so she took a leap of faith and started working at a prison. In 2008, life took a turn due to her health. Kay then became and remained a homemaker. Kay, her husband and two daughters moved to Abilene, Texas in 2009. Making the Lone Star State their forever home.
Above all else, Kay cherished her roles as wife and mother. Her love knew no bounds, and her family was the center of her universe. Her guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love will forever echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Kay is survived by her husband, Benito Canales; and her children, Bre Ann Martina-Faye Canales, Katrina Malynn Canales, and Jacob Matthew Canales.
Kay was proceeded in death by her parents; mother, Karen Willis; father, Michael McDannel, and her brother, Joe McDannel.
