Ken Horan

A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021. Ken Leon Horan was 77 years old. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Those privileged to know him were treated to lots of love and laughter.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church with Thomas Estess officiating and Kenneth Reiter assisting.

Ken was born in Dallas, Texas on December 13, 1944 to the late Horace Lee Horan and Lorene Baker-Horan. Ken served in the United States Airforce from December 28, 1961 till December 27, 1967. Ken moved to Cross Plains in 1973 to work in the oil and gas industry and branched out to start his own business-KLH oil and gas in 1978. Ken loved playing golf and spending time with his grandkids and checking his wells. His love and generosity for his community and his family was never ending.

Ken was preceded by his parents, Horace Lee Horan and Lorene Baker-Horan; and wife, Brenda Gayle Horan.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Shelley Horan-Manley and husband, Scott of Cross Plains; Emily Horan-Williams and husband, Mark of Granbury; Khristina Mata of Ft. Worth; Melissa Bryant of Carlsbad, NM; son, Kenny Horan of Cross Plains; 8 grandchildren, Sam Horan, Kena Shellenberger and husband, Nick, Eli Wiliams, Kassidy Flippin and husband, Chase, Gabby Mata, Kiley Mata, Nikki Martin and husband, Nick; Ethan Horan; 4 great-grandchildren, Finley Flippin; Everett Flippin, Hunter Martin, Tristin Martin.

In lieu of flowers you may donate to the Cross Plains Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 339, Cross Plains, Texas 76443; Cross Plains Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 144, Cross Plains, Texas 76443; Any Veterans Association of your choice.
