Lee Roy Higginbottom, 79, of Abilene and formerly of Cross Plains, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Abilene.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 7 from 3 to 5 PM at Higginbotham Funeral Home, Cross Plains, TX. A graveside service will be held Monday, May 8 at 10 AM at Carbon Cemetery.
Lee Roy was born on February 27, 1938 in Gorman, TX., and was preceded in death by his parents Lesta Higginbottom and Thelma Creager Higginbottom. Lee Roy married Lela Ann Mangum on January 23, 1962 in Eola, TX. He worked in construction for many years both road and building construction before following his true passion as an animal and snake dealer. He worked with many species of animals but his specialty was rattlesnakes. Lee Roy was well known in this industry and was featured on several programs on Animal Planet. He crafted merchandise such as necklaces, purses, wallets and many other items. Lee Roy was known to have quietly and without attention help many people in need. He loved to fish and will be dearly missed by friends and family.
Lee Roy is survived by his wife, Ann of Abilene; 2 daughters, Leesa Annette Pyles of Post, Janna Lynette Lasly of Abilene; grandchildren, Sean Brandon Higginbottom, Nici Higginbottom, Reese Allen Lasly, Colton Stamey; great grandchildren, Lexi Williams, Ayden Young, Addy Jones, Lilly Lasly, Abby Lasly, Zoey Lasly, Ty Lasly, Kohle Lasly and Imerald Anthony.
