It is with great sadness that the family of Lucille Edington Barr, announce that Lucille has passed peacefully on June19, 2017 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman, Texas. She was surrounded by her loving family and staff at Holiday Hill Nursing Inc.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 from 1 to 2 PM at Higginbotham Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Cross Plains Memorial Park.
Lucille was born on February 26, 1918 in Burkett, Texas to Jodie and Ada Edington. She is the granddaughter of Samuel and Margaret Edington and A. J and Sefrona Nations.
While a student at Burkett School, she enjoyed playing basketball for Walter Chamber, her coach. She married Dick Holland and together they had two daughters, Ann and Jo. After his death in 1951, Lucille and her two girls moved back to Cross Plains to be near family.
In 1953, she married C. A. “Anse” Barr of Cross Plains, Texas and together they enjoyed 62 years of being Mother and Anse to Ann and Jo, and Granny and Granddad to their families. Lucille was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cross Plains. For the past years, she has been a resident of Holiday Hill Nursing home in Coleman, Texas.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husbands, Dick Holland, C. A. Barr, her parents Jodie and Ada Edington, three brothers: Cleo, R. E. “Hick”, Carl Edington and
N. L. Long Jr. son in law.
She is survived by Daughter, Ann Long of Brownwood, Texas; Grandson, Donald Charles Long; Daughter, Jo Holland Barr and husband James of Coleman; Granddaughter, Leslie Barr Janca and husband I. G of Georgetown, Texas; Grandson, Jody Barr of Coleman; Great-grandsons, Sam Janca of San Angelo and George Janca of College Station; Great-granddaughter, Reagan Barr Hadden and husband Matt of Coleman, Texas; Great-Great Grandsons, Luke, Connor and Harrison Hadden of Coleman
