Melva Faye Gilliam, 81, of Garland formally of Cottonwood, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 3 in Garland, TX.
Funeral service will be held Monday, August 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Matt McGowen officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Cottonwood Cemetery in Callahan County, TX. The family will have a time of visitation on Sunday, August 6 from 4-6 pm at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Cross Plains, TX.
Faye was born to the late Steve and Pearl Favors-Beasley in Burleson County, TX. She married Donald Ray Gilliam on March 12, 1955 in Abilene, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2007. Faye was a loving mother, grandmother and faithful member of Cottonwood Baptist Church. Her greatest love however was her Lord Jesus Christ.
Faye is survived by her sons, Donald Ray Gilliam, Jr. of Royce City, TX.; Bobby Wayne Gilliam and wife Caron of Abilene, TX.; Roger Dale Gilliam and wife Peggy of Rozet, WY and daughter, Debbie Alisha Stewart and husband Walter of Garland, TX. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jeremy Gilliam, Brittany Gilliam, Mandy Dunn, Wesley Gilliam, Lisha Whitworth, Candy Gilliam, Christa Stewart, and Meagan Stewart as well as ten great grandchildren.
