Peggy Joyce (Stark) Chambers passed away quietly in Hendrick Hospital’s Hospice center on January 17, 2017 with her family present. She was born on October 21, 1928 in Benjamin, Texas, lived there in her early years and then moved to Ft. Worth, TX. during her formative years. There she met her “Knight in Shining Armor”, Carl Chambers, more commonly known at Carswell Air Force base as a flight engineer. They married in 1944 and enjoyed 48 years together until his passing in 1993. They had one daughter, Carla Limmer, who resides in Houston, TX. And one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Martha Chambers of Abilene, TX. She rejoiced each week with her dearly beloved card group, whom she hosted just before entering the hospital.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Jewel Stark; her husband, Carl Chambers; three siblings, Irene Duke, Marie Fain and Perry J. Stark; son-in-law, John W. Limmer, Sr.; granddaughter, Cheryl Limmer Long and great grandson, Cody Long.
Peggy is survived by four grandchildren, John Limmer and wife, Denise of Cypress, TX; Ann Carr and her husband, Brian of Abilene, TX; Madge Duwe and her husband, Josh of Abilene, TX; Emily Ruth and her husband, Jon of Lubbock, TX; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on January 21st at the Cross Cut Cemetery. Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains is presiding over the funeral arrangements.
