Peggy Lucille Grisham~Winfrey, age 89 of Cross Plains, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at home surrounded by family in Cross Plains, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Second Chance Cowboy Church, 9005 State Hwy 36 W, Clyde, Texas. The burial will follow the service at the Cross Plains Memorial Park in Cross Plains, Texas.

Peggy was born on October 11, 1934, in Okra, Texas to the late Ed Grisham and Maggie Jones-Grisham. Peggy married Glenn Edward Winfrey on July 11, 1954 in Rising Star, Texas.

Peggy worked alongside her husband, Glenn, for over forty years as owners of Cross Plains Grain and Peanut. Her greatest pleasure was cooking for her family and providing a welcoming home for all. She loved sitting on the back porch watching the cattle graze, working in her garden and baking cakes for community events.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Glenn Winfrey; parents, Ed and Maggie Grisham; several brothers and sisters.

Peggy is survived by her sons, Tony Winfrey and wife, Paula of Cross Plains; Mike Winfrey of Cross Plains; Bob Winfrey and wife, Kim of Stephenville; 9 grandchildren, Cody Winfrey; Emily Winfrey Hicks; Jaden Winfrey and wife, Alisha; Joby Winfrey and wife, Jennifer; Piper Winfrey; Lastyn Winfrey; Bryce Winfrey; Alec Winfrey and wife, Sarah; Carlye Winfrey; 3 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cross Plains Senior Center or your favorite charity.
