R. L. Barnett

R. L. Wanvol Barnett, age 95, of Cross Plains passed away, Monday, December 19, 2016 in Cross Plains, Texas. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Cross Plains Cemetery, in Cross Plains, Texas with Ronnie White officiating. Family will have a time of visitation on Tuesday, December 20 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Higginbotham Funeral Home 309 N. E. 4th Street Cross Plains, Texas 76443.

R. L. was born on September 28, 1921 in Putnam, Texas to the late Jessie Wanvol and Lillie Wood-Barnett. R. L. served in the United States Army during World War II he received 3 Bronze Stars while serving in European Theatre. He was an Auto Mechanic and owner of Barnett Garage. He was a Master Mason with Lodge #627. He married Billie Rohus on July 2, 1946 who preceded him in death on September 20, 2000.

R. L. is survived by his sons, Larry W. Barnett; Allen R. Barnett; 7 grandchildren, Todd Kennedy; Paula Lutsi; Seba Skiles; Danny Barnett; Jeremy Barnett; Lindsey Connelly; Tara King; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren.

R.L. was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Rohus-Barnett; daughter, Carolyn Ruth Kennedy; 5 brothers and 1 sister.
