Ruby Parker

June 18, 1928 — January 8, 2021

Ruby Jean (Killough) Parker, 92, joined her Heavenly Choir of Angels on January 8, 2021. She was, at the time, a resident of Rising Star Nursing Home in Rising Star, Texas and visitors were limited.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, January 16, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Brown County, Texas.

Due to restrictions in place because of the COVID-19 virus, we ask that you follow social distancing. The family appreciates your attendance but wants everyone to be safe during this time.

Ruby was born June 18, 1928 on a farm near Muleshoe, Texas and was the seventh child of James Washington and Pearl Killough. The family moved several times during her early years, living in Ft. Worth, Brown County, Muleshoe and Decatur. During her teenage years, Ruby traveled to various places in Texas as well as to California to help out when many of her nieces and nephews were born. She was pretty busy and regretted that she could not be there for all the births.

She met (at a skating rink) and married Fred L. Parker. They lived in Fort Worth, Texas and raised two children – Cynthia Jean and Fred, Jr. She was a long time member of the Wayside Baptist Church in Fort Worth.

After retiring, Ruby moved to Brown County, TX. (after a brief time in Eastland, TX). She enjoyed being closer to her family. Ruby loved her family and, to the delight of younger generations, used her social media to tell stories of her life.

Ruby is preceded in death by her Rainbow Baby Boy, her daughter, Cynthia Jean, ten of her thirteen siblings, and her parents.

She is survived by her son, Fred, Jr., a grandson, T.J. Young, a great-grandson, Ted Young, Jr., one sister, Doris (Killough) Jones of Rising Star, Texas, brother Floyd W. Killough (and wife Ola) of Rising Star, Texas, brother Warner T. Killough (and wife Martha) of Weatherford, Texas as well as many, many loving nieces and nephews.
