Theresa Lewis

Theresa Claudine Hughes Lewis, 96, of Rising Star, Texas left this earth on Thursday, September 12, 2019 to meet her Lord and Savior and to be reunited with the love of her life, Shorty Lewis.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 14, at 2:30 PM at the First Baptist Church in May, Texas with David Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Lewis Family Cemetery on County Road 252. The family will have a time of visitation on Saturday, September 14, from 12:30 – 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in May, Texas.

Theresa was born April 25, 1923 in Pioneer, Texas to the Late Bryan and Willie Hughes. Theresa had a beautiful soprano voice and attended North Texas University on a scholarship before marrying Shorty Lewis in 1943. She used her voice to worship her Lord in song. They had three children, Randy, Sharon and Kay. Theresa loved being a housewife and was the epitome of what a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend should be.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Shorty Lewis; brother, Boyd Hughes; sister, Frances Wolf; step-son, Kermit Lewis and his wife, Frances; grandsons, Rusty Bond and Jason Prosser; son-in-law, Jerry Prosser; granddaughter, Shelly Lewis.

She is survived by her son, Randy Lewis; daughters, Sharon Bond and her husband, Ronny; Kay Prosser, 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and many, many friends that loved her dearly.


Pallbearers are Randall Lewis Jr., Ricky Bond, Matthew Mattison, Randall Lewis III, Michael Vicknair, Donald Starks, Perry Lewis, Kevin Shelton.
