Verna Dean Childers, 95, of De Leon, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 in De Leon, Texas.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 27, at 2:00 PM at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with R. D. Childers officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Cross Plains Memorial Park. The family will have a time of visitation Tuesday, February 26 from 6:00-7:00 pm at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains, Texas.

Verna was born July 31, 1923 in Aspermont, Texas to the Late Melvin Gardner and Florence Gilbert Riner-Gardner.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Gwin Childers; son, Jimmy Wayne Dunn; parents, 3 brothers, Murril, Eldon, and Frank Gardner; 2 sisters, Dot Lott, Lilly Tyler.

Verna is survived by her son, Freddie Gwin Childers and wife, Tanya of Cross Plains; daughters, Wanda Turner and husband, Delbert of De Leon; Patricia Bates of Coleman; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Wayne Gardner of Kingland.
