Obituary for Judy Lynn Archer-Looney (Peevy)

Judy Lynn Archer-Looney (Peevy)
Judy Archer Looney, 68, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Friday February 2, 2018 in Midland, Texas after a brave struggle with cancer.

Born March 19, 1949 in Odessa, Texas, the daughter of Orean and Barbara Peevy (Allen). Judy grew up in Odessa for most of her life, attending grade school, middle school and Ector High School. She moved with her family to Fillmore, California while in high school where she ultimately graduated. Judy married Douglas “Mac” Archer on March 21, 1968 and shared 24 wonderful years before he preceded her in death in 1992. She was a proud and devoted mother to their three daughters; Tracy, Dana and Melissa. Judy remarried to Richard Looney on July 4, 2003 in Odessa, Texas where she gained three bonus children; Kim, Keitha and Richard Jr.
Judy spent fifteen years working for the VFW, retiring in 2006. Judy made numerous lifetime friends through this job and showed her intelligence for numbers while doing it. Before entering the workforce in 1990 she was a fulltime homemaker and stay at home mom.

Judy is preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother Bryan Pierce and her niece Michelle Bishop. She is survived by her husband Richard Looney of Odessa, daughters Tracy (Chad) Harper of Midland, Dana (Leon) Humphries of Odessa, Melissa (Johnny) Howell of Odessa, Kim (Ben) Brown of Waco, Keitha (Robin) Halford of Odessa and Richard Looney Jr. of Odessa, her sisters Chyrel (David) Hill of Fillmore, California, Sarena Peevy of Stayton, Oregon, her brothers Greg (Becky) Peevy of Stayton, Oregon and Gary Wayne Peevy of Meridian, Ohio and her second mom Ruby Peevy of Stayton, Oregon.

Judy is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren that gave her much joy and always brought a smile to her face. Judy was always eager to brag about her children but went a step further when it came to the grandchildren as she bragged and showed off pictures.
Judy’s life remembrance would not be complete without a proper thank you to Dr. Timothy George, who helped her fight for her life eight years ago, and beat breast cancer. Despite that she could not beat the lung cancer not a day goes by that we don’t count our blessings for those extra eight years.

A very special thank you to Hospice of Midland for taking great care of our special angel and keeping her comfortable during her last few weeks of life while holding our hands and sharing our tears of sadness.

Graveside memorial services will be at Cottonwood Cemetery right outside of Cross Plains, Texas on February 16, 2018 at 2pm and are being handled by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains.
